Hello again 52sokra!

Finally I played through the whole game to the ending of this version, and gathered some more thoughts to share.

Trying hard to not spoil anything about the story, I can only say that somehow I do not like the protagonist. It very much feels like that he is fundamentally not the passionate romantic type which I would prefer to take control over. But of course, I guess this is not very surprising, because the game is tagged with "male-domination". But, uh, how can I say this? I'm just trying to somehow hint you, that he could be a bit more caring and emotional, and less villainous by default. I get the idea that in the future story-wise there gonna be plenty of meaningful choices about doing evil or good, but if he in his standard default state behaves and thinks the way I experienced so far, then I'm not so sure about whether I wanna tag along his adventures. It's just rather hard for me to accept what he has done with Julia, considering that it was his original intention from the very start. To make you understand my standpoint better, in other words, I'm not the hero-type kind of a player, but this just feels wrong.

Of course anything can change in the future, so maybe if he also gets into some kind of similar accident with an other type of artifact, then the story would take a more interesting turn for me.

You also tagged the game with "horror", so even tough I'm not so sure about it, in which direction would you like to move forward this story, I think that it feels like that maybe you can also tag it with "Dark Fantasy".

Besides my subjective observation about the story, also here are some more technical stuff to improve:

Make sure to double-check the rooftops in the slums area, because it is possible to casually walk on some roof areas like on the ground.

Add invisible barriers to the tables, unless the main character is supposed to casually walk into them.

Please fix somehow the door-opening animations on the houses in the city, so it won't look like the character opens the door, and there is a wall behind the door and then he blinks through the wall while moving into the houses.

Please add more items. Especially less "generic" items, and much more fantasy-like stuff, with fun descriptions. Maybe also add a gift shop and make it possible to buy gifts to the girls. Or anyway, anything more fun to spend gold on, maybe a casino or something like that.

From the loot I gathered so far, I think you may be planning to implement some kind of crafting or potion making system, but please don't overdo it.

Please make sure, that treasure chests are never empty. In worst case they should contain a trap or a mimic monster, but never be empty.

The strength and level of magic spells automatically increases by using them, right? But how many times should I use a spell to level it? Is there anything that indicates the strength of a spell or how many times it was used?

Are there no skills to attack multiple enemies at once? It sure makes the game more difficult, that I must hit every monster one-by-one.

Anyway, that's it I guess, nothing more comes to my mind right now.

Thanks for the experience, I look forward to the next version.

:)

Don't want to spoil so I won't go into the main chars personality/reasons but I see where you're coming from. Some choices/reactions just make him seem like a villain through and through but this should change with time.

Just the other day I lowered the chances of chests being empty as well as added gold to them.  Them being empty should be a rare occurrence now, hopefully.  About the doors that lead straight into a wall, it's things like this that you just forget....Sigh. Walking on roofs??? Jesus, will look into that.

No crafting though, I guess you got that from the fact that you get misc items like "berries" and such but no, no crafting. The list of droppable items is quite short which is why they're there. I will take another look and see if I can add something else...maybe "trinkets" that can be sold for gold. i.e "broken pocket watch" and "jewelry" to name a few.

As for the spells, I was going for more of a "surprise happening" type of thing. Their strength, on the other hand, is quite noticeable so I left it at that. Each upgrade is considerably more powerful than its predecessor.

(1 edit)

Finally I had some time to play the game, and write down my thoughts about it.

First of all, to summarize, I'm totally sure about that this game can turn into a rather good erotic romantic epic fantasy RPG adventure in the future, but currently it still just provides the feeling of something potentially great early-in-development.

People reading this should not consider my writing below a review of the game, because I suck at writing reviews, and I totally do not intend to judge about the game in its current early-in-development phase.

I was taking notes while playing to give some advice to the developer, about how the game can be improved, so my thoughts written below the "---" line should be rather considered as a wishlist of what I would like to get improved, so it mainly lists the things I disliked, and not the things I liked.

But, before my ruthless wishlist, here are some nice things:

Sorry to bother you again about your game page, but please change the "Average session length" section from "A few seconds" to "A few hours", as I'm totally sure I spent some good hours of fun playing it.

It's possible to save anywhere, anytime. There are no stupid save points. This is cool, you should write this into your game page.

Please 52sokra, you must really put more effort into showing off the good unique qualities of this game. You must absolutely upload 3 screenshots which show the explanation/tutorial about the game mechanics, and also mention it in the game description. It's a totally awesome thing, that there are no levels, the player gains freely distributable stat points from killing, and it's possible to respec stats anytime. Also there are no skills and no classes, anyone can use any skill, as skills are presented as lootable and equippable runes. Finally, all spells are unlocked by default, and automatically increase in power by usage. These game mechanics give incredible flexibility and freedom to the player about building a totally custom fighting style RPG character. This is hard to find in regular RPG Maker games, you should be proud of what you have done here.

You must also mention, that you are using a good/evil morale system, because it's cool.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Now, the things to improve:

You should add readable and openable links to your itch, subscribestar and patreon pages into the game title screen, maybe into a credits menu, as people on the internet may be sometimes too enthusiastic about distributing free games, so you should mark your product, and state its source of origin.

The main character does not have any spells, and has a sword unremovably attached to his hand. This totally goes against the awesomeness you brought in with your game mechanics. Please make it possible for the main character, and any character to equip any kind of weapon, and of course have spells unlocked by default.

The text size is too small, and the font style is hard to read. Please add some option to increase font size and style, or make it more readable by default.

Characters only have HP and MP. There is no TP or SP for physical skills, so there is no difference between madly swinging a sword and casting a spell, as both are using MP. Please add a separate TP or SP or Stamina or "Battle Rage" stat, which automatically recharges during fighting. Or maybe rename MP to something more general, for example focus.

Bonfires act as resting points, but there is no hint about whether time matters or not. Please add into the tutorial, that it's free to use bonfires, there are no timed events, there is no need to fear from missing some story part by resting for a day.

Monsters spawn out from thin air, there are no visible monsters roaming the map, battle encounters just happen spontaneously. I personally hate this. Please add monsters to the map or decrease the probability of random encounters as it is too frequent, and gets quickly annoying. Or maybe totally remove random encounters and add some kind of shortcut key to call monsters, a lure key for quickly picking a fight instead of running in circles.

I very hate, that the background music changes every time a random encounter happens. Please do not change the BGM for random battles, only do it for boss fights. I can not enjoy the good map area BGM if it is frequently repeatedly interrupted by stupid generic RPG Maker battle BGM.

There is no auto-attack function in battles for farming monsters. Please add it.

There is no description in the options menu about what ATB means. Please add some explanatory text about it. And I really do not see any benefit from decreasing it's value, I would rather wanna increase it so everything would happen instantly in battles turn-after-turn instead of any waiting times, so please add an option to increase it to a higher value.

The RPG tileset, looks good, and it's nice to have an overview of a bigger area around us on the map, but I madly wanna zoom-in to have a better look at the graphics, so please add an option to set zoom level.

Selecting between characters in the menu is not obvious, please add a proper frame around the selected characters, not just the subtle underline at the bottom of the screen.

It's not obvious how the distribution of stat points happen. You should note it in the tutorial, that the finish button for confirmation is inside at the end of the stats list, not the outside "finish" button.

I'm not so sure about that it's a good idea, that there are no trainers at all, and it's not possible to buy stat points with gold. It would be nice, to be able to simply buy stat points from a trainer by doing jobs in town for gold.

Please add an option to set the opacity of the text box, and also add a hotkey to hide the text box during conversations.

You must mention in the tutorial, that it's possible to jump between tiles.

You should really decrease the difficulty, because it feels something like between hard and nightmare level, right now. Or at least add an easy/normal/hard difficulty setting into the settings menu.

There is an unbeatable eye-abomination enemy at the temple ruins. I mean unbeatable, by scripted, not by difficulty level. This is evil, and bad design. I stopped playing here. Please think about the disappointment someone faces after powering up his character to ultimate heights, spending 6 months of time, only to notice it was for nothing. Anyway, the main point would be to get out of the ruins, and not to get in deeper, and if I indeed go out and return to town, nothing happens, no more events, so it may be also a bug or something?

Currently story-wise, I'm more interested in Clara, the girl, who I saved from the random bandits at the start of the game, as I would rather not start a relationship with blackmailing a priestess to give me her body in exchange for saving the village. I felt like, that you should have added there a choice to ask for something else, like building/giving me a house in the village, or joining me in my adventures as a servant/maid or something like that.

Finally, some of my thoughts about the art style:
From your screenshot, in Julia's kissing scene I see, that you are not changing the background during lewd events. Please change the background as I do not wish to look at generic RPG Maker tiles while anything erotic happens. Maybe use the same backgrounds you use for battles, or just set the screen black.

Also, from what I saw, I think Julia's hips are a little bit too big for my tastes, I would prefer to look at a little bit more slender women. It's good tough, that her tits don't look like oversized balloons like in many other erotic fantasy games :D

That's it for now. I wish you good luck for the next version. Even tough, it's still not perfect, I had some fun playing it, so don't give up ;)

(+1)

Finally, some good fukin feedback :D.  I've been wanting this for a while you see.  Well lets get into the nitty and gritty of it. Firstly, yes I've been thinking that the tutorial doesn't explain everything and that I've forgotten to add some parts which I had planned. For example. It is possible to hide the text box. I had meant to add that to the beginning as yet another tutorial page but completely forgot, anyway "Right click" hides text box. Sorry about that.

As for adding links and such, I have no idea how to do that. I'm not a programmer so I will need to see if I can find a plugin that does this somehow, though I hadn't thought of this at all so thanks :D. Next, lets see, ah. The un-equipable weapons, honestly, I'm on the fence about that one. My plan was/is to tie each weapon to a specific costume i.e daggers to a rogue costume, swords to a warrior costume etc etc. Instead of a class system since that would not be necessary with the way leveling work in this game so the reason they are locked right now is because I don't have that and it would feel/look weird to equip Julia with a dagger but then her battle bust shows a staff. Adding art is the most time consuming and I'm more focused with getting the story to come along.

This feels like a cherry on top kind of feature and it's not as important right now, also because I'm going to need help making the different outfits for each girl depending on which weapon they use.

The reason the main character doesn't have any spells is because, one, he's not a mage and two because he will get his own unique type of magic....Spoiler alert! Sorry. He won't be casting the same spells as Julia but he can still be built as a mage, later on that is.

I'm sure that I've added a bonfire page to the tutorial and if time mattered in this game I would have mentioned that. But to be on the safe side I'll add an extra line that mentions that time doesn't matter :D.

The spawns are a bit too much, I'll admit. I'm planning on increasing it from 40 steps to 70+ and adding skills/items that lower/increase the spawn rate.

I'm not sure about the battle bgm, I feel like there needs to be an kind of cue that tells the player "We are in battle, Fight!". I guess a visual change could be enough but having having both a visual and audio change feels more...impactful? I guess if it happens to frequently then it gets annoying but I'll leave as is for now, will check if it's better once I've made the battles less frequent.

Auto-attack might be a problem, if the engine as a built in auto-battler then I can add it without worry but if not then everyone's saves will stop working on the next build. But holding the "OK" key should act like an auto-attack function since it keeps repeating as your holding it down. Will have to mark this down for later.

As for the ATB, honestly, that shouldn't even be in the options menu. You turn is determined by your "AGI" stat, the more you have the faster your turn arrives. High enough "agi" gives you a turn every 0.2 seconds. At some point the player will most likely be in battle for less than a second  or two at a time, given he is strong enough to beat the enemies in a single hit. Will see if I can remove it, if not, then I'll add some info as to what it does. Just leave it at the maximum and that is it. Not explained, I know. You just don't realize how much your missing until someone reminds you :D.

Can't do much with the zoom, I haven't zoomed the game out. I've changed the resolution to 1920x1080. This is why you have a broader field of view. I'll check if I can add that to the options menu so that the player can choose his own resolution otherwise there isn't much I can do here unless I want to corrupt everyone's save files.

The jumping between tiles is something I want the player to figure out, the reason I chose to do it is for the simple fact that I want the player to try things out, see what works and what doesn't.  Why? Because I will be adding/have added secret areas into the game that I want the players to find on their own. Areas that will be using this ingame knowledge like "Oh, so I can jump over this gap. Wonder where else I can jump". I want to give the player the tools and then leave them to do whatever. Obviously not everyone will figure it out and that is the point. Holding the players hands is not something I like in games. I don't mind you hinting at things but just adding a big ass sign that says go here and do this isn't to my liking. But with all said, I know this is subjective. I'll see if I can make the hints a bit more obvious.

The boss at the end, he isn't immortal. You said you quit there but....Sigh, I spent so much time on his mechanics, even though they are somewhat simple in design. Didn't you find it weird that he never attacked? What was he doing? What kind of thoughts ran through your mind when you saw that your attacks didn't do anything to him. What was he doing to begin with and why? SPOLER ALERT!!!! This boss doesn't attack, he only summons slimes. Keep killing them and you will see a visual change to his appearance. Continue and he will die.

Was it hard even with Julia in your party? Never mind, I've already decided that I will be decreasing the amount needed to level a stat so this, should, lower the grind needed to get to the enemies strength. I will also be lowering the stats of the enemies at the start of the game but ramp it back up later on though this change will only be seen once I've released the next build.

As for the art and Julias Phat ass :D, gonna be real with you fam. I'm a member of Adonitology. But! I'm no fool, your next companion is more normal looking. Have to cater to the casuals you see  ;P.

Thanks for the feedback man, much appreciated :D. I'll see what I can do with what you've given me.

lol, I guess you may have overestimated the intelligence and patience of your target audience :D

Nowadays people expect a lot more hand holding from games, compared to the good old times. Even I got used to the in-game helper systems, which  literally tell me everything I need to do.

The only person who bothered to throw a comment besides me, "Neversaynever" also complained about the difficulty, but his bigger problem was probably, that he got lost in the forest without a map or a magic arrow pointing in the right direction xD

Compared to him I got further :D

But to be honest, now that I think it over, giving up at the eye-monster was due to my fault, because I started to cheat when we had to kill the bandits in their big camp before the ruins.

In the event, when the bandits were quickly repedately coming at us also connects to my problem with the BGM. I was quickly 1-hit killing every bandit, eliminating them group-after-group, and it was very annoying that the BGM restarted everytime. It was supposed to be one event, there was no need to restart the BGM at each fight.

Also, please at least consider giving different battle BGMs on different maps. It is very lame, that I get to hear the same standard RPG Maker BGM both in the ancient ruins, in the forest, and in the fight with the bandits. It just ruins the atmosphere.

Maybe what about gradually increasing the speed of the on-map BGM in battles, then gradually decreasing it back to normal speed out of the battles?

And besides wether the battle music is fitting the map or not, it is annoying to hear it reset every time, because while I'm gathering stat points, I'm just doing routine work of killing monsters without thinking, so at that time I do not need hear the "We are in battle, Fight!" "impact", as I just want to chill out, stop thinking about things, and enjoy the music and the fantasy atmosphere of the game.

So back to the problem, I cheated out on the process of gathering stat points, because I felt too much frustrated to do an other monster-farming run-in-circles take-your-time feat.

Soo.... when I was at the eye-monster, I was not defeated, instead I got into an infinite loop, because my AGI was too high, the poor thing didn't even had a chance to do anything, the monster never had a turn no act. Yes, immediately after my one-hit-kill ultimate attack, it has thrown out 3 slimes, which I have defeated in the same turn I zeroed the health bar of the main monster, but after that I got stuck, repedately hitting the main monster with my ultimate strikes, still in the same first turn of the fight, and not getting through it, so I tought it is a scipted event, which the user must lose, so I got angry and rage-quitted. Sorry ;)

I'll check out later whether I can get past the eye-monster with lower AGI, and play the rest of the game later.

(+1)

Ahh, now it makes sense. That thing needs to lose 1% of his life before he starts spawning enemies. My fault, the game isn't balanced as well as I thought. I think I'll do the opposite of what I had intended for the next build, I'll lower the enemy stats and keep the requirements for leveling a stat as is instead.  The fact that people cheat so very early on says a lot about the balance. Need to work on that.

I think I'll change the camp event as well, make it a consecutive battle instead of each battle individually. This should keep the battle bgm going until the end of the event, this way it won't be as jarring.

Thanks :)

And uh, sorry to add this, but if you change the camp event, please also surround the camp gate with event starting points, because first I casually walked around it, right into the bandit camp, past the two guards who were supposed to be guarding the gate. I first looked into every bandit tent and checked every barrel for loot (there was nothing of course), and after I was coming out of the bandit camp, I walked into the event starting point and the guards ran to me yelling what am I doing here, like they haven't seen me casually walking past through them.

:D

(+1)

HA! That is how it was before but it got so annoying having to change the event progression slightly depending on where you where standing when you triggered the event. Will place invisible walls to keep the player from entering the camp :D

Why is this game so low rated? I suppose I gonna find it out when I will have some free time to do so. For the time being I upvoted it, becuse it just looks acceptable for me.

It has a male protagonist, right?

The girl on the screenshots is just the main herione, right?

It's not an other let's get female protag f***ed by monsters type of garbage, right?

It doesn't have NTR in it, right?

It's gonna have an immersive fantasy story with meaningful choices and multiple endings, right?

52sokra, you really need to throw more info about your game to its description.

Anyway, good luck with it! It's not abandoned, just started, right?   :D

(1 edit) (+1)

lol, true. I've been too busy working on the next build and had completely forgotten to add tags. Anyway, tags include male protag, male domination and BJ for now but will include multiple endings, night crawling, anal, some voyeur, horror and pregnancy though I am a bit on the fence on this one. More tags will be added as I go but these are the ones I've planned.

Also, no this is not an NTR game. Though it is a bit rough around the edges. I'm still trying to balance it properly so do let me know your thoughts of the game. Any feedback is helpful. I will also be posting a progress report on my devlog by the end of this day so check that out to see changes I've made, things I've added and changes I will make  on the next build of the game.

Thanks for playing :D

(2 edits)

Okay, no NTR, means I'm gonna probably like this game.

Unless it would turn into an unavoidable braindead harem game, where the protagonist will have sex with anyone and anything, including, but not limited to monster girls, furry creatures and the worst of my nightmares: futanari heroines! Oh, the horror! xD

I already downloaded it, but I have just too many free games from itch on my "to play" list, so sorry, beacuse probably it would take me some more time to give you actually valuable feedback on your game, but I will definitely give you my toughts after I played.

Maybe you can also add the "erotic", "fantasy", "romance" tags to the game description, by the way. These are rather popular tags, and would make your game more probable to show up on search results. Furthermore, don't forget to add the good old "NSFW" (Not Safe For Work) tag ;)

And it would probably help you, if you would move the "RPG Maker" tag to the "Made with" section on your game page, because it should be put in that place.

Furthermore, itch is a rather big international platform, so adding the "English" to the "Languages" section on your game page would also help to make the game more easy to find.

Also, if you didn't know, you can find a "Links" section on your game description, where you can add the links to your patreon and subscribestar pages ;)

Duh, sorry for my rant, while I still didn't actually played it, but adding these little details into your game description really helps both the users and the developers. Beacuse it's rather hard to find on itch, in the big sea of random free games, what a user may be interested in, and the same way it's hard for the developer to gather users, who may be interested in their games, without proper game descritpions and tags.

Edit: Ah! I almost forget to say, that devlogs and progress reports are cool, but version numbers are also important, so please add some version number to your game file, which is currenly just "Iter.7z", rename it to "Iter-v0.1.2.7z", which would mean, that this is the first beta version, with 2 small updates since. And, because there are still many clueless pepole on the world, it would also help to add into your "Download and install instructions" section something like "Use 7zip to extract the game, then run the game.exe to play".

(+1)

Hey!

Just wanted to say thanks. This is my first game project on itch and I was kind of lost to be honest. I didn't even see some of the options you mentioned so I had to go in and look around...again as I seem to have missed those option the first time around, oops. And just to give you some peace of mind. No, There won't be any Futa content or furry content and I would also like to add that I'm a big proponent for freedom of choice when it comes to these type of games.

I prefer to take my time and see what the game has to offer before jumping in and making the choice to follow someone's route. And shoving me, the player, into sex scenes without my...consent, lol, isn't something I like at all so there is nothing to worry when it comes to that. You choose whether you want to see a scene or not.

(3 edits)

Very good, I totally agree, freedom of choice is very important, especially in erotic games.

I also like to take my time before moving on the route of any heroine. If I would just be looking for quick "stress relief", then I would have instead been watching free porn videos. I'm here for the romance and adventure!

Sorry, I'm still just goofing around downloading plenty of games from itch, so I still didn't play, but, you mistyped two of very important tags:

You typed nswf instead of NSFW.

You also typed fanta instead of Fantasy.

:D

(+1)

Shit, thought they autocompleted words....the nswf is my bad :D

(2 edits)

For anyone that downloaded my game before this message. Please redownload it. I had forgotten to add something important at the end. To keep it short, the city was devoid of lighting which made it look bad. Anyway, I've added some lights here and there to give it some more depth and therefore had to remove the old file and upload an updated one.

Please redownload it if you haven't already. Your saves should be transferable so there is nothing to worry about. Sorry for the mess and thank you for playing my game :D

(+1)

I'm not gonna sit here and say the game is perfectly balanced, it's not. I'm trying to balance it as I go. Do let me know if something is truly horrible and I'll see if I can fix it somehow.

Also, the enemies are hard from the start because of how easily you can get overpowered in this game.

(1 edit)

Oh, hard you say.  Quite sure it's mentioned at the start of the game and again when you save the girl.

This game is to hard.

What are we suppose to do after freeing the prisoner?
